Never in a million years would I have thought this song would be this good played live! People think I'm a little weird for loving this in the first place... I guess after listening to this version, I just got weirder.

Tyler Stenson - Leave Oregon

I've had the pleasure of meeting Tyler back when I was in Portland. He was entertaining the crowd on the 22nd of July before the start of Top Gun, which was first movie of Flicks on The Bricks that summer (they play outdoor movies, and everyone is welcome to join). I was hooked when i heard his cover of Hallelujah and decided to go and say hi. I remember when I went up to him I asked if his CDs had all covers or originals, he said they were all his own. I was a little bit disappointed, because.. well.. you know.. He had a great voice and it would be horrible to see it go to waste if the music and lyrics did not match. I decided to buy both his CDs from him anyway. To my surprise, his songs were perfection. His song "Leave Oregon" was just perfect for what I was going through. It was spot on, word by word! I was leaving Oregon, and It hurt! but I had to. And that song was just about that! I went into a Tyler Stenson mania phase.. and I never got out of it. Tyler's music is by far one of the most amazing things that happened to me since I moved to the States. And he is one of the reasons I want to go back to Portland so bad!

He also made an alternative version that goes "who am I to leave where I'm from" instead of "Oregon". I obviously do not approve of that version. But hey, if you've never been to Oregon i guess you might want to listen to that instead. It's available on iTunes.

Wow, this was a long post, but I can still go on about Tyler's music for days... 

 

Ringside ft. Ben Harper - Lost Days

By far one of my favorite discoveries of this year. It's one of those songs that completely take over me and renders everything else unimportant.

The Perishers ft. Sarah McLachlan - Pills

A song for everyone out there who's not quite okay. This song starts with the line "I hope my smile will distract you", and I just think that that's the most beautiful thing ever written.

Meiko - Leave The Lights On

Meiko is ultimate cute. This is the first single of her upcoming album. I don't necessarily like the video, it kind of feels like they're trying to induce a seizure, but the song is absolutely adorable! I cant wait to hear what else she has on that record.

The song was officially remixed by Morgan Page. I like both, but prefer the original.

Anya Marina - Whatever You Like (T.I. Cover)

When a cover kicks original behind! Anya's voice is so different, she's one of those people who can sing the phone book and still make it sound good. A little while back I found her cover of this T.I. song and was hooked right away. Give it a listen.

Jay Brannan - Housewife (aka the I have finals song)

Whenever I'm fed up with grad school, this song is all I play. Oh, how he plays it so perfectly. Makes you want to quit everything and just spend your life rolling in bed waiting for that special someone. *sigh*

Morgan Page ft. Greg Laswell - Addicted

Greg Laswell has probably been my favorite artist for two or three years now. I know I'll be sharing more of his songs, but here is one I found just yesterday. The song is by Morgan Page, who is a house DJ, and it features my Greg. Both artists released albums this month. Both are awesome and worth checking out!

Greg is preforming in DC this summer. I hope I get to see him! Even though I'm gonna have to miss some classes to do so.

Faded Paper Figures - Polaroid Solution

Let me start with this one. I obviously found it while watching Grey's Anatomy. It's one of those songs that make absolutely no sense, has an upbeat.. yet is kind of sad... Enjoy!
