Sara Bareilles - Uncharted

Here's some happy music. If you don't like the song, you'll still love the video! It has some of my favorite artists. It makes me happy!

You should probably watch this too.

Matmos - The Struggle Against Unreality Begins

This is the sort of thing I study to. I don't think I'll be able to go through finals again without this stuff.

Techno Squirrels - Om Mani

Here's a little something different.

There's no Youtube video, so you'll have to work for this one and click HERE.

Enjoy!

Zaman - Batalti Eli

And today, I give you this! بطلتي الي - زمن It's a beautiful song about two people who are no longer together. Sad, yet beautiful.

Credits go to the awesome Sulaiman for introducing me to this song about a year ago.

Vampire Weekend - Walcott

This song annoys me, because many many times I have found myself waking up singing it. That is usually followed by the strong urge to play it. And THAT is usually followed by an even stronger urge to repeat it... forever.

The Prototypes - Kaleidoscope

I cannot explain why I've always liked this song, all i know is that I still do.

Alexi Murdoch - All My Days

A good friend gave this to me a few weeks ago. I mingle with people with great taste in music, I tell ya! It also plays in a TV ad now.

His voice is so deep even though he's such a skinny little fellow! Love it!

Kishi Bashi - Manchester

This is our song today.

I heard it here. It's an interesting short series that you should watch.

Monday, September 17, 2012

Lifehouse ft. Natasha Bedingfield - Between the Raindrops

I plan to play this over and over til it becomes obnoxious. It'll be a while.

And the awesome Majid gave this to me!

Tall Heights - To Be Young

I recently found out that these guys are coming to town on my birthday! Dear friends, guess what you're going to be doing on the 27th...

SuperHeavy - Mahiya

This keeps getting better and better every time I play it. Such a powerful tune!

Sunday, September 9, 2012

Michelle Keserwany - Jagal El USEK

This is kind of old, but still cracks me up every time I listen to it. Sorry to those of you who don't speak Arabic, you're missing out!

Cloud Cult - You Were Born

I've never been a fan of babies, but now I want a kid of my own just to sing this song to...

Heard it on HIMYM.

Darwin Deez - Radar Detector

Exactly the kind of song you would dance to as you're cleaning the kitchen!

I LOVE IT!

Citizen Cope - Sideways

Why I'm only discovering this song now beats me, but it's all i listen to now.

Monday, August 27, 2012

Passion Pit - Take a Walk

Right off the Taco Bell commercial. It's the only thing TV is good for.

Sunday, August 26, 2012

The Fray - Be Still

The Fray need no introduction. But this song is too beautiful not to post. It works as both an early lazy morning song, or a tucked into warm bed with your favorite blanket and mug of chamomile song.

Saturday, August 25, 2012

Zee Ave - Honey Bee

This song is fairly old. A good friend gave it to me, and no mater how many times I listen to it, it's still as cute as the first time I ever heard it. Enjoy!

Friday, August 24, 2012

Limetree Warehouse - On The Line

Now that I'm back to DC, I should be posting more regularly.
I give you this today. Obviously it played on House.

Hope you've all had wonderful summers!

Lily Kershaw - As It Seems

Lilly appeared in a Criminal Minds episode, then a couple of years later, they featured her song. It's absolutely beautiful. The sort of song that takes you to a distant place. It's probably my favorite discovery this month. Enjoy.

AWOLNATION - Sail

Today's discovery.

This song makes me want a punching bag for some reason...

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Zero 7 - In The Waiting Line

My sister was watching an old episode of House and this song came on.

They have a pretty neat - and less familiar - song called Destiny, which I find just as good. Check it out too.

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

Gin Wigmore - Devil in Me

Ah Miss Wigmore, you sing perfectly. I first heard her song Don't Stop on Lowe's add. I immediately fell in love with her unique voice and got her album. And now she made me this.

Sunday, July 22, 2012

Daughter - Youth

My life is perfectly awesome, but every once in a while, I feel every word of this song.

It'll pass.

Friday, July 20, 2012

The xx - Angels

A new single! Their upcoming album should be released on the 10th of September. I'd like to think of it as an early birthday present.

Ayman gave me this song. But I introduced him to them in the first place, so he only gets partial credit.

Thursday, July 19, 2012

Naomi - White

Another one of those songs given to me by the oh so awesome Ayman. This song is simply sexy!

Mona - Lean Into The Fall

This song was given to me by one of the awesomest people on earth, Majid. After listening to it for the first time, I weeped for the time I spent not knowing this song.

And here's the fun part! This song is a Sims soundtrack. Which means, there's a "Simlish" (Sims language) version of the song!

You can sing along to this even if you don't know a single word. My type of karaoke.
And while we're at it, I though this video is fun and worth sharing. Enjoy!

Get Set Go - I Hate Everyone

Cheesy. Yet we can all relate to it, can't we?

Passion Pit - Dreams

I've been having weird dreams lately. Regardless, this song is good. It's a Cranberries cover. I think they've done a pretty good job.

Here's the original.

Sia - Breathe Me

Sia has been gaining a lot of recognition lately. Specially after her appearance in the first season of The Voice. Followed by her very recent song with Guetta, Titanium and Wild One with Flo Rida. Both are pretty awesome, might I add. But her not so new stuff are extremely amazing too! To name a few:
  • Taken For Granted should be Overly Attached Girlfriend's anthem.
  • Butterflies is just beautiful, beautiful I tell you.
  • Stop Trying is my favorite upbeat song of hers.
  • Sweet Potato is the sweetest song that could possibly exist!
  • Blow it All Away is one of her most powerful songs. You can't help but lose yourself when listening to it.
  • And of course, the song that renders me completely paralyzed and sends shivers up and down my spine, Breathe me.

Can I force you to listen to all of them? I've already given you links, so it's not like you have to work for it or anything. Listen.

Greg Laswell - Sweet Dream

This is only my favorite song by my favorite artist in the whole wide world. AKA the shortest song in the world, AKA a minute and 10 seconds of bliss.

I got to see Greg perform live less than two weeks ago. It was oh so awesome! So friggin AWESOME! Sadly, I didn't get to say hi. Also, he didn't perform this song.

Here's a random picture of my after-concert face and my awesome Greg Laswell shirt!
I'm overusing the word 'awesome', aren't I?

Tamarama - Near My Place

They are one of the main reasons I want to move to Australia. I don't care if they're now in New York. I'm still moving to Australia.

And what the hell! Let's go wild and post two songs instead of one today!
Here's Middle of a Magazine by Tamarama for you.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend! xo

Mashrou' Leila - Inni Mnih

The first non-English song I post! I love them. Their songs range from random, but awesome, noise making to the deepest stuff you've ever heard in your life. This is one of the more serious ones.

The lyrics go more or less like this:

Come, lets burn this city down and build a better one
Let’s forget these times and dream of nicer ones
Since you still have nothing, then you have nothing to lose
And I’m sick of being alone

I wanted to change the world
I don’t know how the world changed me
I wanted to carry the sky
Now I can’t even carry myself
Say that I’m okay
Say that I’m okay

Linkin Park - Castle of Glass

Linkin Park are the only band I've been obsessively following for over a decade. It's not like they need an introduction. Here's one of my favorite songs off their latest album.Which I approve of. Very much. Very, very much.

It's one of those albums that you need to play more than once to realize how great it is.

Maroon 5 - Doin Dirt

And off of their new album, I have picked the dirtiest song to share with you. What? It has a nice beat to it...

I gotta say, the whole album is absolutely awesome. For some reason, I wasn't expecting that. Get it! It's fun!

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Ben Semmens - Streetlight

I think Ben followed me on twitter after I tweeted something about Greg Laswell (who I got to see perform live today!!!!!). I went ahead and checked a few songs on his EP, liked it, downloaded it, added it to my iTunes, then forgot about it.
A couple of weeks later, my iPod decided to play one of his songs, and I was like "Gosh! Who is that?! I sure have awesome music on my iPod!" Then I realized it's Ben, and of course, I ended up playing his EP over, and over, and over, and over...

This song is probably my favorite, though I actually like quite a few.

Ben is awesome enough to share his amazing music for free on his website. All you need is your email and zip!

Gold Fields - Treehouse

You have absolutely no idea what you're doing with your life? Yet you don't mind at all?

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Black Ghosts - Anyway You Choose to Give it

I've been in love with this song for ages! It makes me want to shake my bon bon. For some reason, no one agrees with me.

Thoughts? Am I insane or is it really good?

Ellie Goulding - Believe Me

This is fun!

Oh Land - Son of a Gun

I found this song in the "hot this week" sidebar on youtube. Since then, I've been checking it religiously. I ended up getting Oh Land's album and falling in love with it later on.

I kind of like the video too!

Imagine Dragons - On Top of the World

I was introduced to 'Imagine Dragons' by my awesome buddy Ahmed The Carrot Head when he gave me a link to their song Radioactive. I was debating whether I should post Top of the World or Radioactive, because I love both just as much! One is happy and makes me smile, while the other is darker and fused with energy. I, off course, ended up posting the happy one because I'm a happy hippie like that. And honestly, their whole EP is just amazing. I've five-stared 5 out of the 6 songs on it! See...

Enough about me. Listen to this now.

If you like what you hear, then I seriously advise you to get their EP. Take a listen here.

Sixx:A.M. - Sure Feels Right

This is unlike them. It's so laid back. Kind of reminds me of Ringside or Stereophonics, maybe even old school Train. I like all their other stuff too, but this song is different. I love this. You will love it too.

Matthew Mayfield - Heart in Wire

Not only do I have an awesome song for you today, but I'm also posting the album "trailer" of Matthew's upcoming album. I'm so excited. Heck, I'm ecstatic! Every artist making a new record has to say this is the finest of their work, that this album is very personal, different, deep and whatever. Usually, that's complete BS, but in this case, I believe it's true. It sounds so perfect, so simple, so Matthew! I can't wait till Tuesday!

I don't know why I keep listening to this guy when his voice alone makes me cry.
From his new album A Banquet For Ghosts, here's Heart in Wire, for you.

Matthew's singing voice is the best I've heard. Ever. And the fact that he writes incredible lyrics lands him a fancy spot on my all-time favorite artists list. In fact, seeing him perform live is one of the top things on my bucket list.

Milow - Little in the Middle

I'm a diehard fan of Milow's. I've been listening to his version of 50 cent's Ayo Technology since it came out in 2008. I actually had the pleasure of meeting him on the 27th of September, 2011, which happens to be the day of my 24th birthday! He's an incredibly nice guy with an oh-so-perfect smile. After I met him, his albums were on repeat for months.
His videos are always weird. So weird.

And here is an episode of his American tour video diary. Can you spot me? :D

I loooorrrveeee Milow! <3

Biffy Clyro - Many of Horror

I don't know how this song ended up on my iPod, but oh i'm so glad I found it there!
Enjoy :)

Saturday, May 19, 2012

Panic at the Disco - Always

I believe their last album didn't get quarter the buzz it deserves. It's one of those albums you can listen to every song on, and more than a couple of songs are absolutely perfect!

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Ed Sheeran - The A Team

I do not remember where or how I got to know Ed song. All I know is that I found his albums on my iTunes and I can't stop smiling while listening to him.

Here's a random thought, how about you do something nice for a complete stranger today?
J.

SuperHeavy - I Don't Mind

Get. the. album.

For about 2 weeks, this album was all I could play.

Monday, May 7, 2012

William Fitzsimmons - Good Morning

This song is my alarm tune. His voice makes me wake up happy.

His song When I Come Home has a line that goes "Turn on the light, ready or not, I'm not what you wanted, I'm what you got". I love that.

Robbie Williams - Me and My Monkey

An oldie. This is one of my favorite Robbie songs. Very underrated!  And I'm still not sure what to think of the lyrics... so deep, so deep.

Sunday, May 6, 2012

The Cloud Room - Hey Now Now

This was on a Pepsi ad many many years ago. You know when you hear part of a song on TV or something and go "oh, this song is perfect! I gotta have it!". Then when you listen to the whole thing, you're disappointed. Yeah, this one isn't like that. This song is awesome from start to end.

Thursday, May 3, 2012

Flight Facilities ft. Giselle - Crave You

Ayman, a friend of mine, has this unique taste in music. He gives me the awesomest songs!

He also happens to like DJing, check out his soundcloud page.

Wednesday, May 2, 2012

Counting Crows - Round Here

Because I'm not feeling so good today. And because this is the song I listen to when I feel like crap.

I actually found this song when reading Harlan Coben's The Woods. Good read, good music.

Hope you're having a better day than I am! Cheers.

Joe Purdy - Can't Get It Right Today

For days when nothing goes right.. like today.

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Travis - Big Chair

Why do people like Coldplay more than these guys?

Camera Can't Lie - Shine For Me

This song is the sweetest. I dare you to listen to it and not smile.

I first heard it on Lowe's ad. They play the best songs on their ads!

Monday, April 30, 2012

Ludo - Love Me Dead (Live)

Never in a million years would I have thought this song would be this good played live! People think I'm a little weird for loving this in the first place... I guess after listening to this version, I just got weirder.

Tyler Stenson - Leave Oregon

I've had the pleasure of meeting Tyler back when I was in Portland. He was entertaining the crowd on the 22nd of July before the start of Top Gun, which was first movie of Flicks on The Bricks that summer (they play outdoor movies, and everyone is welcome to join). I was hooked when i heard his cover of Hallelujah and decided to go and say hi. I remember when I went up to him I asked if his CDs had all covers or originals, he said they were all his own. I was a little bit disappointed, because.. well.. you know.. He had a great voice and it would be horrible to see it go to waste if the music and lyrics did not match. I decided to buy both his CDs from him anyway. To my surprise, his songs were perfection. His song "Leave Oregon" was just perfect for what I was going through. It was spot on, word by word! I was leaving Oregon, and It hurt! but I had to. And that song was just about that! I went into a Tyler Stenson mania phase.. and I never got out of it. Tyler's music is by far one of the most amazing things that happened to me since I moved to the States. And he is one of the reasons I want to go back to Portland so bad!

Here's Leave Oregon for you.

He also made an alternative version that goes "who am I to leave where I'm from" instead of "Oregon". I obviously do not approve of that version. But hey, if you've never been to Oregon i guess you might want to listen to that instead. It's available on iTunes.

Wow, this was a long post, but I can still go on about Tyler's music for days...

Friday, April 27, 2012

Ringside ft. Ben Harper - Lost Days

By far one of my favorite discoveries of this year. It's one of those songs that completely take over me and renders everything else unimportant.

The Perishers ft. Sarah McLachlan - Pills

A song for everyone out there who's not quite okay. This song starts with the line "I hope my smile will distract you", and I just think that that's the most beautiful thing ever written.

Thursday, April 26, 2012

Meiko - Leave The Lights On

Meiko is ultimate cute. This is the first single of her upcoming album. I don't necessarily like the video, it kind of feels like they're trying to induce a seizure, but the song is absolutely adorable! I cant wait to hear what else she has on that record.

The song was officially remixed by Morgan Page. I like both, but prefer the original.

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Anya Marina - Whatever You Like (T.I. Cover)

When a cover kicks original behind! Anya's voice is so different, she's one of those people who can sing the phone book and still make it sound good. A little while back I found her cover of this T.I. song and was hooked right away. Give it a listen.

And here's the T.I. version for you.

To top it all off, she's a Portlander! Yay PDX!
Cheers!
